EDRG 3341 TR Persuasive
I was going to do my persuasive on how we should protect our enviroment so that we can keep the different types of bears alive for a long time to come, so that our future can enjoy them. Plus this is something that need to be done for our own well being as well. I was going to use facts and possible a video for this.
EDRG 3341 TR Narrative
My narrative piece is about a baby bear and its momma bear. I was going to do a story about them going from the time the baby bear was born and all things it learns to when its time to hibernate. I'm not sure if it will be like what kids would normally do but with other things added in, like the bear brushing its teeth, and then eating Berry's and trout it caught ( hard to explain sorry if you don't understand it). Or do a more "real life" story on bears, I have yet to finish either one, I am writing both and then going to pick one, when I do I will update this blog with my story, but thanks to those in my group who gave me great ideas.
EDRG 3344 TR Talking
Talking in the classroom is very important. It lets the children feel like a part of the class and they're able to express themselves in a safe environment. Talking is very beneficial when its being allowed to be done and not while the teacher is talking or your supposed to be doing work. Talking lets us get our ideas out and share them, from doing this others can learn from you and you can do the same from them. From a young age this is important to get the kids talking so that they will feel comfortable doing it when they're older and be confident. We can do this as a class, the teacher talking, or in Small groups. Another form of talking is reading books to each other and talking about all the meanings of it, the children's ideas of what the book is about or what the outcome will be. Being in a non-talking class is not fun at all, you feel ashamed of yourself, and your the only one who feels that way, and it makes you keep everything bottled up inside, when really we should share it, because there are others who feel the exact same way. So be loud and be proud of who you are and what you feel.
EDRG 3341 TR Precious as gold memory
My precious as gold memory has to be any memory with my grandpa in it. He was the most amazing man in the world to me. He would of done anything is the world for me, he inspired me to become something in life, and to be all I can. He was very strong and determined and that is something has driven me. Also I promised him before he passed I would finish school and make him proud. He was the father my dad couldn't be, we would go fishing together, play outside, he would walk with me while I was driving my barbie Corvette up and down the sidewalk never complaining or showing any signs of being tired. He was my super hero. He would let me do his hair and put head bands on him (even though he didn't have hair, ha ha) he was a good sport. He also taught me many things, I will always carry with me. He took me in when my mom was unable to care for me and I had nowhere else to go, and during this time there were so many emotions and hormones running through my body that I was acting out, but he put up with me and just walking me through it all. The day I lost him my world was crushed, I still have never really gotten over it, it still hurts as much now as it did six years ago, but I think of all the great times we had together and those get me through it, also I go and visit with him and my grandmother often. Always cherish your loved ones and hold tight to them.
3344 EDRG TR Dream vacation
My dream vacation would be me and a few friends or someone special traveling the world. I want to see every inch of it. I want to smell and taste all the different foods and enjoy the worlds beauty. It has so much to offer. I would like to do this vacation without a care in the world, I could spend however much money I wanted and do whatever I wanted. I would take my dogs everywhere with me so they could stay in the hotel with me and I wouldn't miss them after all they are like children to me. I would want to see every aspect of each culture from the very rich to the very poor, I want to see it all. I want to bring something back with my from everywhere I travel, usually I get a t-shirt and my boyfriend and I find each other a special rock from wherever we go, so I would like to do that as well. Then I would love to get massages everyday and have someone there to do my hair and makeup along with all my clothing issues. I wanted to be treated like a queen. I just want to expand my knowledge and be pampered along the way.
EDG TR 3341 Writting process
There are five stages in the writing process : the first stage is the brain storming and pre -writing, this is beneficial because it helps you to get out your ideas in whatever order you want and it doesn't have to be perfect also it helps you to keep track of your ideas and not trying to remember them all. Stage two : is drafting, this looks like an outline or a rough draft. The third stage: is revising this is where you add things or remove them, elaborate on your ideas, you change sentences around some get this stage confused with editing when they are two different stages. The fourth stage : is editing, this is where you look for grammar, spelling and so on. This is going to be a challenge for me that I'm ready to stand up too, it seems so helpful to keep them separate and you can focus on what your looking for instead of being everywhere with your paper. The fifth stage: is publishing, this is where you put it out for others to read. With your students you can make books, posters or other projects, you could also hang it up in the room so everyone can enjoy them. You can also put it out for your students to see your work so they feel inspired to be creative.

3344 TR Blog # 2 Examples of pre/dur/post strategies?
Suppose you were going to be reading a book to your students, before you start you want to do a walk through of the book, and you could then have them tell you what they think its about or draw pictures for a project of what they think will happen and share them with the class to see what others think. Also during the book you could have the children recall certain situations and objects to see if they were paying attention and guess what will happen next and why. Then at the end you could have a group discussion about the book to see what they felt about it and how they understood the book, you could also do this during the book as well. Also relate other lessons to the book by using the character from it or why things happened like the circle books you could compare it too the circle of life or something that ends where it begins type of thing. I loved the idea of the box with the objects from the story in it, that was such a great idea. Have a great weekend everyone!!

3344.TR Blog #1 "How do you learn?"
I learn in many different ways, however I do enjoy working with others the most because I get to see how others think, feel and understand the particular thing we are working on. I also feel that I am a hands on learner as well, it helps me to see why something is the way it is and how to do it, for example when I was a freshman in high school I attended a private school so there classes were very small. My math class had a total of 7 people I think? Anyways the teacher was very hands on with us, there wasn't a day that we didn't go to the board and do our work there, and he wouldn't just have us there alone, he made us all go up at the same time to work, which was great because I always worried about looking "dumb" in front of everyone. Also we would have races to see who could do a problem the fastest and whoever won got a prize so it motivated us to try and learn the work. He always would compliment us which was good and made us feel good about what we were doing. Also support from home is crucial when you have people rooting for you and wanting the best for you, its an awesome feeling and a great motivation. You also have to want it for yourself and have the want for it, because for awhile I was being forced to come to school by my family and I see why now, its my future, I need an education, but until you want it yourself it is very hard to stay focused and be driven. This is still something I struggle with, staying focused! This is preparing for the rest of my life and its a scary thought. Hope everyone has a great weekend see you Tuesday!!
3321 Blog #1 "Children's literature authors"
Hi everyone, guess I'm a little late doing this blog since it was due Thursday. Anyways I was looking online and found some great websites, a few in particular that interested me were:http://www.fairrosa.info/ because it had e-books, magazines and classics that you could access and it also had discussion boards which is always good to be able to read or get involved with so you can see how others feel about a particular book. This is also another site I thought was interesting : http://comminfo.rutgers.edu/professional-development/childlit/HistoryofChildLit/index.html at this site you can look at the history of children's literature and its authors through different websites it has listed. Here is another website I liked: http://www.childrensliteraturenetwork.org/index.php this site has bios of authors and lists of different book plus much more. It was very interesting to put peoples faces with books I read as a child. Here is a link to this cute video the vocabulary parade is such a great idea and gets the kids interested and learning while having fun which is always great: http://www.childrensliteraturenetwork.org/video/vgallery/videos.php .
